Two more #kidney #transplants this week for two patients of Dr. Gabriel Valle!!
Steve got a transplant in Tampa (University of South Florida) and Diane got a transplant at the University of Miami. Both are already home and doing well. Both were patients of our Peritoneal Dialysis program.
This makes a total of 8 kidney transplants for the month of October for our group, breaking our previous record of 7 in a month in March of 2012. 3 patients came from our Peritoneal Dialysis program, 3 from our hemodialysis program, 1 was PD who transferred to hemodialysis, and 1 never needed dialysis at all. 7 of these were Dr. Gabriel Valle’s patients, and 1 was a patient of Dr. Carlos Bejar. Later this week we will cover more of these stories in depth on our blog “Kidney World”.
If you are waiting for a kidney do not give up hope. Many of these stories were complicated, and often the patient grew discouraged. We kept them healthy, engaged, hopeful, and ON THE LIST at all times. That’s the secret!!
