Kidney patients have special concerns regarding a potential flu pandemic. Among them are crowded dialysis centers with potentially sick patients, immunosuppression from transplant drugs, waiting rooms with sick and sneezing individuals, and other illnesses that leave them feeling vulnerable.
At The Kidney Group, we receive constantly updated bulletins from the CDC and have a nurse clinician assigned specifically to this. We ask all patients who are sick with a flu-like syndrome—or feel they have been exposed to one—to wear a mask. We also provide masks to any patients who simply feel more comfortable wearing one.
