Kidney research has always been a very exciting and challenging area given the complexities of this organ and its pivotal role in maintaining the balance of the internal environment (Claude Bernard’s ” milieu interieure”). In light of the prevalence of renal disease worldwide and its emergence as a major risk factor in terms of cardiovascular and overall morbidity and mortality, it is now considered one of the most important priorities in health care delivery, including education, treatment and prevention. We envision in the not so distant future, the use of bioengineered organs to restore kidney function and health. In the meantime our patients need our expertise, devotion and compassion to help them achieve the most productive, fulfilling and happy life we can all hope for. We aim to provide them with the oppotunity to benefit from the next “big discovery” in nephrology while enhancing their quality of life during this journey.See More
