WHAT DEFINES QUALITY IN DIALYSIS? WE AGREE WITH THIS EDITORIAL SO WE ARE RE-PRINTING EDITOR’S COMMENTS

Editorial by Dr. Ajay K. Singh from The Kidney Doctor.

Editor’s note: After 36 years in this field, I am convinced that the best measure of excellence in dialysis care is the employment rate of working-age patients. If you’re doing that well, you are doing so many other things well, including increased dialysis, maintaining quality of life, hemoglobin, infection control, psychosocial services, shifts starting after 5 pm, home dialysis training, access management, etc. Even those not employed would benefit from what is learned from these “well” patients. It would also transform the ESRD corporations from dialysis treatment providers into renal rehabilitation companies and would provide a myriad of societal benefits.
