Walter is a patient of Dr. Ajuria, and he did Peritoneal Dialysis with us for quite some time, working with our Clinical Nurse Specialist, Barbara, Dr. Ajuria and the KHG physicians until he got his kidney transplant with tremendous help from our social worker, Paola, and the wonderful PD nurses, Elizabeth and Vern. He came by PD clinic on Wednesday to say hello to Barbara and Paola and to tell them he is back at work, being a husband and a dad, and loving life!
The Kidney and Hypertension Group transplants many times the national average from this one Peritoneal Dialysis Program. How? Well, the workup is often TOUGH and at times redundant(which we work to streamline), and the actually wait on the list can be a torture of sorts, but at NO TIME do we think you won’t get the kidney, and we don’t let you think that either. And the combination of TOP medical care, caring personnel who love their jobs, and positive energy somehow make a little magic. Oh, and we don’t let you NOT do the things you have to do to stay listed AND we keep your labwork JUST like it is supposed to be. TEAMWORK!!! (photos show Paola, our Social worker, Walter, and our Transplant Nephrologist at The KHG, Dr. Elio Torres, formerly a Transplant Attending at Albert Einstein.)
